For a lot of people, the holidays were a chance to relax and unwind. For introverts, it can be exhausting. There’s lots of people, lots of noise and not enough alone time.

You might not be feeling ready to get your head back to work.

So what can you do to recharge and beat the post-holiday fatigue so you can start doing your best work?

1. Meditate

I’m starting to really get into meditation and making more time to just be.

5 – 10 minutes a day in a morning will give you some space to yourself and help you feel refreshed.

Sit down in a quiet space, close your eyes and focus on your breathing.

Take deep breathes in and out and try not to let your mind wander to anything that causes stress or anxiety. Just a few minutes a day is enough to set your focus and give you some time to be.

2. Unplug for a Day

I’m guessing you didn’t completely switch off over the holidays. As a business owner, this can be quite hard.

There is a pressure to continue to show up on social media and keeping in touch with connections.

It’s important to take one day to completely switch off and do the things you need to recharge.

Read a book, go for a walk, spend time by yourself. If you haven’t had a chance to do this, then why not plan one day to switch off and unplug this weekend completely.

3. Don’t take on too much

You might feel like you have lots to do after having “time off”. But be careful not to take on too much as you get back into things.

Going all in and giving it your own can quickly deplete your energy. You’ll instantly feel less motivated, find it hard to concentrate for long periods and start to feel overwhelmed.

This could lead to procrastination and burnout.

4. Get Back into a Routine or Start a New One

It can be challenging to stick to a routine throughout the holidays.

But once you get back into the swing of it, things can quickly settle down again. If you’re routine is getting a bit stagnant try switching it up or introducing something new.

If you don’t have one, then maybe it’s time to start.

My routine goes a bit like this:

  • Drink a cold glass of water
  • Meditate for 5-10 minutes or do a 20-minute morning yoga workout
  • Eat breakfast while commenting and posting on LinkedIn
  • Take my dog for an hour-long walk

A routine like this can give you the time you need for yourself and is great for your well-being.

5. Make a plan and Set 90-day Goals

Once you feel more refreshed and recharged, it’s time to get back into the work mindset. This can be hard if you don’t have a plan.

Take a day to set out your goals for the next 90-days. One purpose a month is more than enough. Break the goal down into individual tasks and take on one or two tasks a day.

Later today, I’ll share 5 Visibility goals you could choose to help you be visible over the next 90-days.
